Single Camera

For this essay I will be taking a look at the popular TV shows and analysing how it is made.

What is a single camera production?

Single camera setup is a method of film making or video production. To make up a scene all shots are taken individually on the same camera. To make different shots you need to move camera to a different angles and lights setup is reconfigured for each camera setup.

Single camera show as only one camera would be used at a time when recording, this is because when shooting with single camera the director is given more control to get the shots that they want and also because they can be more creative with it as this way the director doesn’t have to worry about getting other cameras in shot. Advantages of using a single camera are that any of the lighting or the set up won’t be blocked at all and does not require Whereas when shooting with multiple cameras reduces the amount of takes needed for each scene, an example of this would be when using the 180 degrees line only one take would be needed as you can use several cameras that wouldn’t be visible on camera. When shooting with a single camera when it comes to the sound in a scene the sound would not have to be manipulated to suit the positioning of the subject, whereas when shooting with multiple cameras the sound would have to change when changing shots between the two cameras to keep the viewer engulfed in the scene as it would sound different in a different position.

Most popular dramas made for television are shot with a single camera giving the crew and director the chance to produce the scene they are recording perfectly, and also gives them the chance to create brilliant cinematography, that is one of the main reasons that single camera shows are so popular and why producers would often choose to record with a single camera.

Formats

A Drama Series is a television series broken up into seasons of a drama like Lucifer. These shows are generally written as they go along and continued depending on the ratings they got.

A Crime Drama Serial is a prewritten show with a predetermined amount of episodes like “Bones”. Shows like these are written to end and although they sometimes do have spinoffs such as Doctor Who which has more spin offs than any other show totalling to 9 although it’s not an exact serial it does have a lifespan of until the next two and current doctor dies.

A single Drama is a Drama on its own not breaking up into episodes or seasons but being the single film/episode such as Still Life. One of example of that genre is A Walk to Remember. Bicycle is a melodrama.

Narrative Structures

A liner story line is a storyline that progresses in the order of events like Game of thrones of Gotham. These usually just tell a straight forward story making the audience simply follow the sequence of event it displays.

A non-liner story is a story that takes place in different timeframes often flashing between different points of time to piece together a fragmented story.

Endings can be closed in several differ ways meaning they can be closed leaving no loose ends in the story like Bonnie and Clyde or open which leaves path ways open for a possible sequel as seen in the matrix films.

Sound

In single camera production’s sound is easier to control as you only have one camera. If the video source is from one camera you only need one sound source. This saves money and time when it comes to editing. For editing they use voice over to take background sound out.

Lighting

Lighting with single camera production is a lot easier than with multiple cameras. This is because the single camera is still so lighting wont have to change throughout the scene. With multiple cameras the lighting has to be the same when changing cameras, if this is not then footage will look odd throughout the camera changes. With single cameras less lighting would have to be used meaning less cost on equipment.

Maya Texturing

At the lesson we have been practicing to work with texturing and with maps. We have been working with UV to put texture on the Item. Then we look throw the UV to apply texture on the item.

I need to create an box and to put texture on it. First of all a create a cube shape which will be presented as a box later. I went to UV to make sure that I form will be applied at all of the object.

After this i search on internet for texture for the box. After finding one which I like i went to photoshop to create a scheme for UV.

After when I create a scheme I went to Maya Back to apply it on the object. I create a new blinn, then i went to a color section to change it to a file. After i choose my texture. After this I selected a cube and apply materiel to it.

Then i went to preview render to check how it looks like when u applied it.

Characters

The main character of the game is an yokai (are a class of supernatural monsters, spirits and demons in Japanese folklore). I choose a Nekomata – two-tail cat.

Besides in the game I’ll have other characters – goddess who stuck in the dead land and two support gods Tsukuyomi (moon god) and Amaterasu (sum god).

Then I was choosing Enemies. It’s other yokais – nezumi (rat), mujina (badger), tsuchigumo (spaider) and few other ghosts.

Maya (building)

On the second lesson my target was to make a column and by the using column to  create an Acropolis.

I first selected a cube shape and set scale y to 0.15 to make a base for the column. 

Using the move tool I moved the cube up to the grid. Then I create  a Cylinder shape and placed on top of base. 

 After in the input settings I change a height to 8. Then I create a Creating a ‘Torus polygon’ an place it on top of cylinder. 

 After finishing of creating a a column i combine all shapes together to make one object.

Then for creating steps I used a Insert edge loop tool  and change the settings on the options box.When I set the correct settings and make sure that two edge loops have been created.With the edge loops in place I pressed the ‘R’ key and dragged the sliders outwards leaving space for a step. Once I had done this I repeated the edge loop process and  extrude process two times.

Then I comeback to my column and copied it few times, then I combine columns to one group. I repeated it few times to make a side of acropolis.

Then I place them together and combine everything in one, then I add the rest of the building. 

Maya Extrude

For First lesson of tutorial we was looking for extruding.

When I opened a Maya I create a cube with which I will work. I size it up to 4 size instead 1 ant the scale X, Y, Z. Then I went to Inputs to make a polygons on the faces of shape.

Then I used menu on the right button of mouse to go for face tool, that I can select a polygons. When I select an area where I’m going to work i can extrude my area as I would like.

That how it will looks like when you will extrude it like that. 

I want to make a clear steps to not damage other faces. Im going to ???? and finding there Extrude tool, and I need to click at the box to go for settings. In setting i need to change a smoothing angle to 0.

After this your area which you wanted to extrude. Besides it wont damage other faces anymore. 

To make a steps you just need to select each face and extrude it.

League of Legends is a free to play MOBA played by many people around the world. It has quickly amassed a large following of over 70 million people across 145 different countries. The monthly average of hours logged is over 1 billion. There are many tournaments around the world and also they have a world championship. League of legends is a popular MOBA played on the pc and has easily earned become my biggest hobby.

MOBA stands for multiplayer online battle arena. In the League of League of legends, you can join up with a group of 5 or get matched with 4 random people to fight for victory. To win in this game many things are needed: A cohesive group, outstanding players, good communication, quick reactions and a good attitude. Although a majority of players do not play like this, there is still much fun to be had. Each game lasts anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour depending on yours and the enemy team. In the game your team’s objective is to best the enemy players, destroy the turrets leading up to the base and destroy the enemy nexus. The nexus the source of power in the bases and destruction of it causes a win for the team that destroyed it.

Each lane is tasked with beating their opponent and collecting gold by killing creeps. The jungler, however, roams around the jungle between lanes and comes out every now and then to ambush a lane to get a kill. Creeps reward gold whenever one is killed. Killing an enemy champion also rewards the player with a large amount of gold. Gold is used to buy weapons from the base to increase your champion’s attacks.

The characters you play are champions from the world of Runeterra. When a champion is introduced they are given lore as to why and how they got into the League of Legends. There is a large variety of champions, ranging from evil creatures from the void to annoying hairy midget men, also known as Yordles. Most champions have 4 abilities, 3 of them being normal and one being the ultimate which you can usually only level up at level 6. However, there are a few champions that can change forms and with it you get more abilities. My Favourite lane is Bot lane where I like to play as a ADC (Attack damage carry) or other name is a marksman. 

I like League of Legends because it’s a highly competitive game and requires much skill to master. With all of the different types of champions and items in the game, there are many different ways to play and there is not ONE way to always win.
